Today like many days in Skegness close to the Seafront has been hard on the Dogs Training, why? Because of Storm Doris. Many Dogs including Gun Dogs and Tracking Dogs struggle in windy weather. Why? Because of the change in biometrics (the low pressure) this can alter concentration for both humans and Dogs alike. The field of biometeorology found this in studies and in a study by Gedeist (1966) found that childrens behaviour was also affected by low pressure and resumed to normality when the wind then picked up again. Dog are sensitive and due to the changes in biometrics and pressure, can suddenly develop fears of wind and thunder at any age. As well as this, Dogs find it a lot harder to hear and detect scents in the wind, instead of a scent being flat, scents are mixing and combing together confusing the Dog which can lead to fear and stress in some Dogs. As well as we struggle to hear eachother in the wind, so the Dogs, and as they are not only struggling with concentration due to their sensitivities they are trying depserately to focus on the scents around them, which makes you much less important and it is not always their priority to hear you. You can't get mad at Dogs for this is as it is a biological reaction. Sometimes you need to step back and think whether the environment is affecting your Dogs behaviour ;)
