Collaborative Care, Agency & Consent

How we do something matters just as much as what we are trying to achieve. My professional development in collaborative care explores ways of increasing choice, agency and participation, while recognising communication that tells us when a dog may need more time, space or a different approach.

Behaviour support happens within relationships, families and real lives. My professional development therefore extends beyond the dog alone, exploring the human–dog relationship, accessibility, inclusion, communication and the different circumstances that can shape life together.

Working responsibly with dogs and their guardians also means continuing to reflect on my own practice. My professional development includes ethics, critical thinking, communication, professional wellbeing and the responsibilities that come with supporting both dogs and people.
