Frequently Asked Questions

Because Clarity Builds Confidence — FAQs for You and Your Dog

1. Where are you based?

Mutts & Mischief is based in Lincolnshire, UK. All services are delivered fully online, allowing guardians from anywhere in the UK (and beyond!) to access professional, welfare-first behaviour support from the comfort of home.

2. Do you work with clients outside the UK?

Yes! As long as you have access to Zoom, Skype, Meetings, I can work with you wherever you are. I support clients internationally — everything from consultations to classes can be done remotely.

3. Are you a qualified dog behaviourist?

Yes. I am a Certified Accredited Behaviourist (KSA) with INTODogs, which means my work has been independently assessed for both knowledge and practical skills. Because I’m accredited with INTODogs, guardians can often claim for my services through their pet insurance provider.

I also hold a wide range of specialist qualifications, covering everything from reactivity and trauma to enrichment, collaborative care, and puppy development. You can view the full list of my credentials on the Qualifications section of this website.

4. What does “holistic education and behaviour” mean?

Holistic behaviour work considers the whole dog — mind, body, and environment. I work with guardians, vets, and allied professionals to explore factors like health, nutrition, pain, environment, and emotional wellbeing alongside training.

5. What types of issues do you help with?

I support a wide range of emotional and behavioural needs, including:

  • Reactivity and fear-based behaviours

  • Separation anxiety

  • Trauma and rescue rehabilitation

  • Emotional regulation and resilience

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Collaborative care (grooming, vet visits, handling)

  • Puppy foundations and enrichment

6. How do online consultations work?

All sessions take place via Zoom. You’ll receive a private meeting link, and I’ll observe your dog through video. This allows your dog to stay relaxed in their familiar environment while we discuss behaviour, create a plan, and review videos you share between sessions.

7. Do you offer in-person services?

No — I’m a wheelchair user and provide all services remotely. This setup has many benefits for dogs, including reduced stress, fewer distractions, and the ability for guardians to learn in real-time without disrupting the dog’s natural behaviour.

8. Do you use aversive tools or dominance-based training?

Never. I follow a Do No Harm, force-free ethos. No shock, prong, or choke collars are ever used or recommended. My work is based on trust, communication, and understanding — helping dogs feel safe, not scared.

9. What does “collaborative care” mean?

Collaborative care focuses on helping dogs feel comfortable and confident with everyday handling and vet or groomer visits. I use step-by-step training and communication to ensure each experience is stress-free, consent-based, and kind.

10. Do you run classes or workshops?

Yes! I host weekly online classes including:

  • All Stars Game Club (relationship-building and real-world skills)

  • The Little Trainers League (kind-hearted fun for children and families)

  • I also run webinars on canine behaviour and wellbeing

  • I’m regularly invited to speak at conferences and professional events via Zoom, sharing education on topics such as collaborative care, emotional resilience, and inclusive practice.

11. What books and resources do you offer?

I’ve written a range of dog behaviour and care books, including:

  • Zero to Hero (and Zero to Hero Volume 2)

  • Calm Canines

  • Paws on Enrichment

  • Connected Care

  • Just Ask

  • Breaking the Chain

  • The Mischief Journal

  • I have also written books to accompany my courses such as; The Little Trainers League - Kind hearts and clever paws. Kids learning interactively about dogs. As well as the Canine Compass - a health and behaviour guide which is a complimentary resource for guardians who book one to one consultations.

Each book includes free resources such as trackers, journals, or video tutorials.

12. Do you collaborate with other professionals?

Yes. I’m the founder of the PPG Lincolnshire Behaviour Team – Professionals Working Together, a multidisciplinary network that includes vets, behaviourists, trainers, hydrotherapists, and groomers. Collaboration ensures dogs receive truly joined-up, welfare-first care.
