PPG Behavior Teams — what it is
PPG Behavior Teams bring together force-free trainers/behaviour consultants, vets, and allied pet-care pros to work as one joined-up team for pets and their people. The program exists to reduce isolation and burnout in practitioners, create a trusted referral network, and give guardians easier access to competent, ethical help. You don’t have to be a PPG member to join a team.
Why this helps guardians
-
Right person, first time: the team helps match you to the most suitable professional for your dog and situation. (There’s a “Find a Professional” matching option on the team page.)
-
Joined-up care: behaviour, training, veterinary input and other services coordinate rather than working in silos.
-
Ethical standards: teams operate under a shared philosophy/code of ethics so humane, welfare-first methods are the baseline.
-
Less overwhelm, more clarity: one hub for contacts, guidance and next steps.
Why this helps other professionals
-
Peer support & supervision: a structure for networking, referrals and case collaboration (with a published “Working Together” manual). Pet Professional Guild
-
Bridges the diagnosis–implementation gap: aligns veterinary behaviour input with real-world training/behaviour plans. Pet Professional Guild
-
Raises standards in an unregulated industry: shared ethics, transparent pathways, and a credential matrix. Pet Professional Guild
-
Open door: practitioners can start a team or join an existing one after viewing the intro webinar.

Why I’m proud to lead the Lincolnshire Behaviour Team
Being Team Lead means I get to champion the values I care about most: force-free practice, joined-up care, and true accessibility. Our county is full of brilliant professionals—vets, physios, hydrotherapists, groomers, trainers—and the Behaviour Team model lets us work as one coordinated network. That matters in an unregulated industry: guardians deserve a safe, ethical pathway and practitioners deserve peer support that reduces isolation and burnout.
What this means for you:
-
Right person, first time: a trusted referral route that matches needs to expertise.
-
Joined-up plans: behaviour, health and environment considered together—no more mixed messages.
-
Welfare & ethics guaranteed: no aversive tools; consent-based, fear-free handling.
-
Accessibility & inclusion: adjustments welcomed; neurodivergent- and disability-aware support.
-
Community impact: we share knowledge, mentor newer professionals and raise local standards through CPD.
Opportunities to get involved:
-
Guardians: refer a case or ask us to match you with the best-fit professional.
-
Professionals: join our network for referrals, collaboration and peer support.
-
Sponsors: back a welfare-led, community service and help us subsidise education and outreach.
I’m proud because this isn’t just a directory—it’s a care pathway that puts dogs and people first, grows local excellence, and makes ethical help easier to find.

Why guardians love it

Structured but kind: clear, step-by-step training that grows your dog’s confidence and manners without aversives.
-
Real-world focus: skills for cafés, busy streets, off-lead areas, handling/co-operative care and polite greetings.
-
Recognised milestones: each level has published criteria and an assessment so you can celebrate progress. Pet
-
Flexible & inclusive: long-distance assessments are available, and reasonable modifications can be made for special needs.
How it works
