Have you ever noticed that your dog seems a little more irritable, restless, reactive or sensitive when it’s hot?

There may be a reason.

Being physically uncomfortable can affect how much capacity we have to cope with everything else — and our dogs are no different.

A dog who would usually cope with another dog passing, a noise outside, being touched or a little frustration may find it much harder when their body is already working to regulate temperature.

Their world hasn’t necessarily become scarier.

Their capacity to cope with it may simply be smaller.

So if your dog seems to have bigger feelings on a hot day, we don’t need to label them naughty, stubborn or difficult.

We can make their world a little easier instead. 🩵
