Supporter of the Association for Firework Legislation Reform

I’m proud to share that Mutts & Mischief is now an official Business Supporter of the Association for Firework Legislation Reform.

This comes after watching the incredible movement behind the Redwings petition — and the incredibly disappointing UK Government response that fireworks won’t be banned because they bring enjoyment to “some" before this year's Redwings Petition.

The Government’s standard petition responses on fireworks have included statements suggesting that:

• fireworks are “an important tradition enjoyed by many,”

• and that community awareness and responsible use should be encouraged by individuals.

In recent responses, they have indeed implied that citizens encouraging considerate behaviour is part of the solution — without committing to legislative change.

Many things bring enjoyment to some — but that doesn’t excuse the impact they have on countless lives. Enjoyment for a few should never outweigh the welfare, safety and mental health of animals, guardians, wildlife, veterans, individuals with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals. 23/10/2025

As a canine behaviourist, I see the fallout every single year:

• trembling

• bolting

• pacing

• shutdowns

• sudden reactivity

• and the dogs who simply cannot cope

This is not a training issue.

It’s a welfare issue.

Fear cannot be reinforced — and guardians are absolutely not to blame.

By supporting AFLR, I’m adding my voice to call for:

✨ Tighter, sensible regulation

✨ Reduced public sale

✨ Predictable, licensed displays

✨ Protection for animals & vulnerable groups

✨ Welfare-first policy over “enjoyment for some”
