🎆 TINY TOXINS: SEASONAL EDITION 🎆

Fireworks and sparklers can attract curious noses before and after Bonfire Night.

Fireworks contain different combinations of chemicals and metals. Many domestic firework or sparkler ingestions cause only stomach upset, but the exact ingredients are often unknown and more serious poisoning is possible.

There is also a physical risk: recently used fireworks and sparklers can remain hot enough to cause painful burns.

A tiny seasonal check:

• Store unused fireworks securely

• Keep pets away while fireworks are being handled

• Collect used sparklers carefully

• Check gardens and walking routes for firework debris

• Don’t allow dogs to pick up or chew discarded fireworks

If your dog eats any part of a firework or sparkler, contact your veterinary practice or Animal PoisonLine with any packaging or product information available. Don’t try to make your dog vomit at home.

One tiny check. One safer environment. 🩵🐾
