šŸŽ† KEEPING PAWS SAFE THIS BONFIRE NIGHT 🐾

Bonfire Night safety isn’t only about the noise. Fireworks, sparklers, glow sticks and discarded debris can also present physical or ingestion hazards for curious dogs.

Swipe through for some simple precautions:

šŸŽ† Store fireworks, sparklers and glow sticks securely

🐾 Don’t allow dogs to investigate or chew used fireworks

🧹 Check the garden and clear away debris before letting dogs outside

šŸ” Prepare a comfortable, safe and secure space indoors

🩺 Contact your veterinary practice immediately if your dog eats a firework or sparkler

Some dogs will seek reassurance and closeness when fireworks begin. Others may want to hide or create distance. Stay responsive to the individual dog in front of you and allow them to choose where they feel most secure.

Comforting a frightened dog will not reinforce their fear. If they seek you out, it is okay to support them.

Save this post before the fireworks begin and share it with another dog guardian. šŸ©µšŸ¾šŸŽ†
